Wow how time flies!! I never thought that 2 little human beings could bring out so much emotion out of me. One minute, I am a fire breathing dragon and the next minute, I am cuddled up next to these two and giving tickles and laughs. Seriously, we've had the best of times and the worst of times. But there is nothing I would change. Motherhood truly is a gift and a blessing from God!
Happy Mother's Day to all the beautiful mamas who have given me the honor and privilege of photographing their baby's first few days on earth! It is like being welcomed into the family and a job I take very seriously. So here's to you all!! Hope you get treated with lots of love and pampering.
It wouldn't be right in my house to let Mother's day pass by without a photo session. Cue the lights, camera, action!!! Unfortunately, dad was away. :(
It has already been a year since we moved here. Can't believe we have snow already, thanks to Storm Jonas ! I was bummed we didn't get as much snow as DC but a little is better than nothing. My kids got to enjoy like 30 min. of it before it turned into rain. So of course being the photog mom that I am, I grabbed my camera and had them pose in between shoveling.
Well today, I am not going to post about people I have photographed but instead will give you a sneak peek at my home. The few months I have been running around like a mad woman on a renovation reality show. It's great that it keeps me busy during my husband's deployment, but all the chaos has had my home covered in dust and shipping boxes of things that I keep purchasing and returning for this renovation. Anyway, I'm excited to say that it's finally complete. Now, I still have to accessorize and put shelves, hooks and pictures on the walls but I'm actually crazy enough to think that I may just repaint the walls another color. LOL I'm really into White and Gold so lately my entire house has been repainted and reaccessorized to satisfy my obsession. Makes me think that maybe I should start a home blog. Haha
Here are the before/ after photos: (I'm going to put the before photos on the bottom because I'd hate to start off a photography blog post with a horrible picture. And excuse the bad wide angle photos. I actually sold my wide angle lens last year so I had to use my iPhone.)
I feel like such a delinquent for not posting any photos since I've moved here. I've been lost in a sea of DIY projects for our new house. I will soon post photos of what I've been working on. If you follow me on Instagram (susanbangphoto), you can see some of my DIY projects there.
Anyway, today, I thought it was high time I picked up my camera before I begin to lose all interest. haha Every week we have a meeting on Fort Story and the office is right next to a lighthouse. So today was going to be picture day for the kids! As they get older, I'm finding that there's a lot less bribing going on while clicking away. Dare I say that they are actually becoming willing models!! LOL
My Favorite subject to photograph is my family, which is funny considering they all run in the opposite direction as soon as they see me pull out my camera. Well, we have less than 6 months left in the DC area, so we are checking things off our imaginary bucket list. First check is the National Mall. I'm embarrassed to say that we've lived here for 2 yrs and this is was our first time there. Luckily, we had beautiful weather this past weekend!!
I am not one to accept mediocrity. I constantly push myself to be better at whatever I am doing. Photography is one of those things that I feel like is a constant evolving industry, and therefore I must evolve with it. I am currently taking a course by Julia Kelleher on CreativeLive and after just one day, this is what I learned to do. Julia is an amazing Photographer and even more amazing Mentor and Teacher. I am learning so much. I've already bought two of her courses. This is what I learned to do so far.
I am so delighted to send out my first USB file!! I had so much fun working on the packaging. Unfortunately, I didn't get to engrave my logo onto this round box so I had stamp made instead. And then of course, they forgot to ship the brown ink so I had to use black ink. But I still think it came out ok. I love that the USB drive has the baby's name and birthdate engraved on the back also - which I blurred out for the privacy of my clients.
Going forward, this square box will be the packaging my clients will receive if they purchase digital files with their session. Unless of course I find something way cooler in the meantime.
Every Easter, I struggle with the thought of taking my kids to Easter egg hunts and showing them Easter bunnies. I want them to have fun, after all they are kids, but at the same time, I don't want to take away from the real reason we celebrate Easter. We celebrate that our Savior is Risen!! Everyday should be Easter b/c we should never forget the price that was paid on our behalf and the hope that we have in Him, that one day we will be with Him throughout eternity!!
Since we moved here, I had not gotten a chance to see the cherry blossoms here in DC. But this year may be our last chance so we planned a last minute outing to go see them before they all blow away. So I brought my gear and tripod and made a photo session of it. It was beautiful and even more enchanting every time the wind blew the blossoms everywhere. It was like blossom snow!
Believe it or not, it snowed this much and my son still had preschool. So I figured since R and I were already bundled with nowhere to go but home, I'd do some quick shots of her in the snow. I love Sno-keh!!
This is a Korean traditional dress worn back in the day, but now we just put them on for special occassions ie..weddings, birthdays, etc.
No this isn't an accidental repeat post. I was crazy enough to throw two 1 year parties for my daughter so I had to recreate the whole party. I wouldn't recommend doing this at all!
