I had so much fun with this session. It's the last one of the year. :( And then just before the ball drops at New Years, we will be heading down to Virginia Beach!! This is the life of a military spouse. I will miss all the amazing friends I've made, and the wonderful clients who have made my dream come true. Thank you for trusting me with your precious newborns and allowing me to be a part of this special moment in your lives.
My style is very classic and organic. So when clients ask me to do a Christmas themed session, I shy away from saying yes. But this year, I was challenged...in a good way! Instead of turning down those clients who wanted a Christmas theme, I decided to do Christmas, my way. I tried to make it festive, while sticking to what is true to my style, and I am very pleased with the results. Happy Holidays!!!
Thanksgiving is officially a thing of the past and now it is full force into the Christmas season. Who am I kidding, I saw people hanging lights way before Thanksgiving! haha We are getting ready to move out of Northern VA and down to Virginia Beach, VA. It will be a sad day to say good bye. We've enjoyed Northern VA so much as a family that I can't imagine moving away now. Not to mention all the wonderful clients that I have had the privilege of working with. Well, I can only look forward to all the great things to come down south. :) But just to get in the Christmas mood, here's some Holiday Inspired photos.
I can't believe it will almost be a year since I started this Newborn Photography business. I have learned so much along the way, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. That is all thanks to my wonderful clients and their adorable babies!! I only book one session a month since I am still a SAHM. But in the little free time I have, I have been slowly trying to expand my product offering. Next thing on my list is this little beauty that I recently had printed. It is a print on watercolor paper with a deckled (torn) edge and I absolutely love it!!! As soon as I find the proper matting/ framing, this will be offered as a framed piece of art with the client's choice of image. Stay tuned for more cool stuff!!!
Just another day in the studio with another adorable newborn who was just as sweet as can be!! How can one be around all these babies and want to have another myself. shh...don't tell my husband. :)
This is why my policy states that in order to purchase digitals you must purchase at least 1 piece of wall art. I recently shipped these standout mounts and photocube from White House Custom Color to my clients and I just drooled!! It made me wish that I had done this when my children were born. You only get one chance at photographing your newborns and remembering how tiny and squishy they were. Don't you want to just display it all over your house, rather then keep them stored away in your computer somewhere!!
I thought I would make a photo slideshow of the last newborn session I did. Makes it more fun to look at when there's great music playing. You can also see the full gallery of images on my Featured Session Page, if you don't have the patience for slideshows. :) Enjoy!!
I just love photographing newborns. They look so peaceful when they are sleeping. Baby L was just that - a peaceful, sleeping baby. I am so honored that his parents chose me to photograph him. They are a beautiful family both inside and out and I'm so happy to have met them.
Once we got her to sleep, not a peep out of her. I think this just may be my easiest session ever. Baby C's mom is someone I used to work with back in my fashion designing days in NYC. We had lost touch and then somehow ended up in the same city again. And boy am I glad that we did! B/c Baby C is just a precious jewel!! It was sad to say goodbye when our session was over.
Meet Baby T and 11 pounds of deliciousness!! He was awake for most of the session, but somehow I squeezed in some sleepy ones. What a gorgeous babe!!
Finally done with this gallery!! There is something about being pregnant that is so beautiful!! And this beautiful lady is an old colleague from my NYC days. I never knew I'd run into her here in the DC area. It was fun catching up!! Can't wait to photograph her baby!!
My little girl has turned 2 and I can't believe how fast time has flown by. River is already talking so much and trying so hard to keep up with her older brother - and succeeding. She brings so much joy and laughter into our lives; I can see why people just keep wanting to have more and more babies. Children are truly a gift, and they teach us what it means to love unconditionally.
Happy Birthday River!! Of course I couldn't let a birthday go by without a mini photo session.
So I decided to take a quick selfie with them. It's rare that I'm ever photographed since I'm always the one behind the camera. Unfortunately, this was taken while dad was at work. :(
Many, many years ago, I used to be a clothing designer. It seems so long ago now. But somewhere around 10 years, I worked with this lovely lady at a company called Theory. I remember walking in her office and having so much fun chit-chatting the day away. She was one of the very few down to earth people I have met in the fashion industry. How crazy is it that we ended up in the same city, and I had the honor of photographing her baby bump. She is only a few weeks away from her due date, but she looked amazing!! Here's a sneak peek.
My Favorite subject to photograph is my family, which is funny considering they all run in the opposite direction as soon as they see me pull out my camera. Well, we have less than 6 months left in the DC area, so we are checking things off our imaginary bucket list. First check is the National Mall. I'm embarrassed to say that we've lived here for 2 yrs and this is was our first time there. Luckily, we had beautiful weather this past weekend!!
Baby M came in at 8 days old and was as sweet as can be. One look at those squishy little cheeks and my heart just melted!!
I am not one to accept mediocrity. I constantly push myself to be better at whatever I am doing. Photography is one of those things that I feel like is a constant evolving industry, and therefore I must evolve with it. I am currently taking a course by Julia Kelleher on CreativeLive and after just one day, this is what I learned to do. Julia is an amazing Photographer and even more amazing Mentor and Teacher. I am learning so much. I've already bought two of her courses. This is what I learned to do so far.
I am so delighted to send out my first USB file!! I had so much fun working on the packaging. Unfortunately, I didn't get to engrave my logo onto this round box so I had stamp made instead. And then of course, they forgot to ship the brown ink so I had to use black ink. But I still think it came out ok. I love that the USB drive has the baby's name and birthdate engraved on the back also - which I blurred out for the privacy of my clients.
Going forward, this square box will be the packaging my clients will receive if they purchase digital files with their session. Unless of course I find something way cooler in the meantime.
Every Easter, I struggle with the thought of taking my kids to Easter egg hunts and showing them Easter bunnies. I want them to have fun, after all they are kids, but at the same time, I don't want to take away from the real reason we celebrate Easter. We celebrate that our Savior is Risen!! Everyday should be Easter b/c we should never forget the price that was paid on our behalf and the hope that we have in Him, that one day we will be with Him throughout eternity!!
Since we moved here, I had not gotten a chance to see the cherry blossoms here in DC. But this year may be our last chance so we planned a last minute outing to go see them before they all blow away. So I brought my gear and tripod and made a photo session of it. It was beautiful and even more enchanting every time the wind blew the blossoms everywhere. It was like blossom snow!
